How to order custom shirts for a group

A group of volunteers in matching shirts

Group orders go wrong in predictable ways: wrong sizes, late approvals and someone fronting the money. This six-step plan avoids all three.

1. Set the budget and deadline

Work backward from your event: allow three weeks for standard production plus a buffer.

2. Collect sizes (or estimate them)

Use a form, or a printer’s group-order link where each person chooses and pays. If you can’t, our size calculator suggests a breakdown.

3. Prepare the artwork

Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF) are ideal; otherwise a 300-dpi PNG at print size. Keep it to 1-2 colors for the best screen-printing price.

4. Choose the blank and printer

Pick a blank people will wear again (see best blank t-shirts) then compare printers in our group printing rankings.

5. Approve the proof carefully

Check spelling, size and placement. Most delays happen here.

6. Distribute

Order 5% extra for late joiners and size swaps.

How far in advance should I order group shirts?

Three weeks is comfortable. Rush options can deliver in days for an extra fee.
